چکیده

This paper investigates the impact of channel estimation errors in the uplink and downlink of a multicarrier code-division multiple-access system. Pilot blocks are periodically inserted into the downlink data stream to perform a least-squares channel estimation. It is shown that a single-user minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) detector endowed with the proposed channel estimator has relatively low complexity, good performance and is robust to estimation errors even under full-loaded conditions. In the uplink scenario channel estimates are computed through a least-mean-square algorithm and are passed to a linear MMSE multiuser detector or a parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver. Simulations indicate that in this case the system performance depends heavily on the quality of the channel estimates, meaning that they are particularly critical.

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Channel Estimation for orthogonal STBC MC-CDMA systems over realistic MIMO channels

This paper investigates a downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system with pilot aided channel estimation (PACE) and iterative channel estimation (ICE) in the receiver. Due to the superposition of different users’ spread data signals, zero-valued chips can occur after spreading, which can cause noise enhancement when using data est...

Arrayed MC-CDMA reception in space-time diffused multipath vector channels

Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) is a modulation scheme that combines the advantages of OFDM and CDMA to provide robustness against frequency selectivity in wireless channels. Arrayed MC-CDMA systems combine MC-CDMA and antenna array technology to harness the spatial and temporal ’signatures’ of received signals, thus making it possible to realize high transmission rates en...

Performance Analysis of ZF Pre-Coder and Extended Joint Channel Estimation Method in Downlink CDMA with HPA

In the down link scenario of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, multi user detectors (MUDs) such as linear de-correlating detector (LDDs) provide satisfactory symbol error rates (SERs) at the expense of much increased complexity, they require all active users’ spreading sequences, which is impractical from privacy point of view. To overcome this impracticality, a simple matched filte...

Throughput Performance of Multicode DS-CDMA And MC-CDMA MIMO Multiplexing Using CDP-CE And Iterative Frequency-domain Interference Cancellation

Abstract In multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multiplexing, a superposition of data blocks transmitted from different transmit antennas using the same carrier frequency is received. In a frequency-selective channel, joint use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) and signal detection of parallel transmitted signals is essential. Recently, we proposed an iterative frequency-domain interfere...

Pilot-Assisted Adaptive Channel Estimation for Coded MC-CDMA with ICI Cancellation

One of the promising wireless access techniques for the next generation mobile communications systems is multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA). MC-CDMA can provide good transmission performance owing to the frequency diversity effect in a severe frequency-selective fading channel. However, the bit error rate (BER) performance of coded MC-CDMA is inferior to that of orthogonal fr...
